Brock Archer is available to present classroom training and/or hands-on guidance to large or small groups.  He can be booked for anything from an evening department speaker to a full week long train the trainer presentation. Agencies may choose from a variety of training topics that fit their individual rescue needs. Booking a class is made easy with the request form below and Brock is happy to answer any questions or to work with agency requiring unique training needs.  Please take the time to look over the optional course modules and have fun putting together a class that meets your needs.

Optional Classroom Presentations:

Module  100 (2 Hrs.)– Vehicle Construction:  In this module instructor Archer covers modern vehicle construction in a way that applies to rescuers. Understanding how a vehicle is put together can help rescuers take it apart. New vehicle construction challenges including high strength steels, other construction materials, push and pull points, how to direct metal rip, tool VS material, advanced anatomy, and common terminology will all be covered.

Module  101 (1 Hr.) – Roadway Safety: In this presentation participants will look at several “struck by” & close call incidents to reveal the easily avoidable mistakes that were made by emergency personnel.  Instructor Archer will cover apparatus parking, safe merge distances, responding to incidents, traffic control, visibility and working with other agencies. A guest Law enforcement speaker is an optional feature for this Module (add 30 min)

Module  102 (2 Hrs.) – Airbag Avoidance:  Undeployed airbags are a hidden hazard to rescuers at almost every traffic accident.  During this in-depth module Instructor Archer reveals the truth about past, present and future supplemental restraint systems (SRS).  Participants are shown simple shut down procedures that are a must at every incident to keep rescuers and patients safe.  During this 2 hour presentation instructor Archer utilizes Crash Recovery System to bring life to the surprising locations that auto manufacturers locate inflation cylinders and other SRS components.  A realistic evaluation of the Dayton incident is also included.

Module  103 (1.5 Hrs.) – Alternatively Fueled Vehicles:  Natural Gas, Propane, Bio-Fuels, and Hydrogen Fuel Cell vehicles all present different hazards to rescuers.  During this presentation Instructor Archer offers a close look at the nuts and bolts of each one of these alternative fuels and explains the hazards associated with each.  Shut down procedures and at scene identification methods are discussed.

Module  104 (2 Hrs.) – Hybrid & Fully Electric Vehicles:  Dispelling myths is an important part of this presentation.  Participants are taken though the workings of these vehicles high voltage systems as it applies to rescuers.  Instructor Archer provides a firefighters perspective on shutdown procedures that are realistic for at scene application and gives a common sense approach to why these high voltage systems are easily are easily avoided.

Module  105 (1 Hr.) – Advanced Steels & More Steel:  In this module instructor Archer covers the “must knows” regarding advanced steels in new vehicles.  The tensile strengths of different steels will not be covered, only information that rescuers can use will be presented.  Tools that work for cutting (breaking) advanced steels, work-around techniques, ramming, and using factory weld points to your advantage are all part of this presentation.  Participants will see how older Hydraulic tools and even hand tools can be used to work around advanced steels.

Module  106 (2 Hrs.) – Basic Techniques:  Be careful passing this one up… Although many believe they have all the basic techniques, even veterans may benefit from this presentation.  Instructor Archer helps rescuers polish basic techniques to achieve a more consistent result.  Door removal, accessing the truck and hood, total sidewall, dash displacement, roof removal, trunk tunneling, under-ride, column pulls, and more are all covered with plenty of pictures, video and thorough explanation.

Module  107 (2 Hrs.) – Advanced Techniques:  Inverted and advanced dash displacement, Inverted roof removal, weight loaded evolutions, advanced sidewall removal, stacked vehicles, floor pan access, clamshell and more are covered in this presentation.  Common mistakes are closely examined so rescuers can save time at an incident requiring advanced evolutions.

Module  108 (1 Hr.) – Instructor Resources:  In this module participants will receive a tour of online websites that provide resources that can be used in presenting extrication to their home agencies.  Vehicle rescue Apps available for mobile devices and making use of video training will also be covered.  Instructor Archer will present the many options for acquiring late model vehicles and for getting the most out of the vehicles acquired.

Module  109 ( 1 Hr.) – Basic Stabilization:  Stabilizing a vehicle is a critical step in maintaining rescuer and patient safety.  In the module instructor Archer presents techniques for stabilizing vehicles using struts, wedges, step chocks, and basic cribbing.  Vehicles on all four wheels, on their side and on their roof will all be covered.

Module 110 (1 Hr.) – Advanced Stabilization:  Stacked vehicles,  three and two wheel contact incidents, working with chain and webbing cradles, advanced cribbing, making use of wreckers and wenches, and marring are all covered in the classroom with videos, pictures and great explanation.  During this module participants are challenged to stabilize a complex incident using pictures from real events.

Module  111 (1 HR.) – Applying ICS At Highway Incidents:  This Module covers how to apply the Incident Command System at highway incidents.  Instructor Archer will cover how working within ICS can create a safer, smoother running incident.

Module  112 (2 Hr.) – Heavy Rescue Basics:  Every department has the potential to be called to perform a heavy rescue.  This presentation prepares participants for the initial response.  Instructor Archer covers stabilization and construction features for heavy equipment, big rig in this two hour presentation.  Basic techniques are also presented. Proper size up and early request for appropriate resources is brought to life with in class scenario training.

Optional Hands on Training

Module  200 (16 Hr.) – Heavy Rescue Technician :  This full two day course presents heavy rescue training that rescuers need to be ready for the incident. In the classroom all the basics plus extrication techniques specific to heavy rescue are covered in the first day. The second day participant’s work with a heavy wrecker, and all the equipment needed to run through multiple heavy rescue scenarios.  If necessary, instructor Archer can provide all of the required tools for this training. When selecting this Module please indicate whether or not tools need to be provided for the training.

Module  201 (8 Hr.) – Hands On / Basic Vehicle Extrication: During this full day training participants will work with at least a 10 to 1 student to instructor ratio. All of the basic techniques are covered with great attention to detail. Instructor Archer provides workaround techniques for advanced steels and reveals the typical mistakes made so rescuers can achieve a more consistent result in the field. Participants will also use cribbing and struts to acquire basic stabilization skills.

Module  202 (8 Hr.) – Hands On / Advanced Vehicle Extrication:  Vehicles on their side, roof and stacked vehicles are all covered in this training.  Inverted roof removal, inverted dash displacement, advanced total side wall evolutions, using airbags and struts for lifting, and more make this training a favorite for many agencies.

Module  203 (16 Hr.) – Hands On / Advanced Vehicle Extrication:  This is the same as the 8 Hr. course but includes a second day of scenario training where rescuers can use the skills learned the first day to deal with real time, life like scenarios.
